Tap Classes at Northern Dance Academy

We nurture your potential in Classical Ballet, Tap & Contemporary Dance.
Northern Dance Academy facilitates students to study the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) Tap Dance syllabus. Classes at NDA are delivered by fully qualified teachers with the ISTD and who are highly experienced in this dance genre. Students from aged 5 years and above are eligible to take syllabus classes beginning at Primary level. The graded syllabus system progressively develops to ensure that students are competent to progress to more complex movements at higher levels. The Tap classes we offer at Northern Dance Academy allow students at all levels to gain a sense of achievement from the sounds and rhythmic patterns they create in their classes. Classes have well defined objectives which promote a comprehensive understanding of Tap movement from a young age; they provide a creative outlet of rhythmic and technical understanding as well as developing dynamic performance skills.

Northern Dance Academy also offer pre-school Tap classes for those children aged between 2 - 4 years. These classes introduce basic Tap movement and sounds at a young age by incorporating sensory, interactive and fun activities. Parents are welcome to stay in the pre-school classes to watch or join in with their little one. 

As well as children’s Tap classes, Northern Dance Academy also offers Tap classes for Adults. In addition to the ISTD syllabus classes which are open for adults to take, we also offer a beginner’s adult Tap class ideal for those students with little or no previous experience.
